Pakistan and Kuwait have held First Round of Bilateral
Political Consultations in Islamabad and agreed to increase cooperation in
different fields, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday.
The First round of Bilateral Political Consultations
coincided with the 50th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations
between Pakistan and Kuwait.
The two sides agreed to diversify and enhance cooperation in
areas of mutual interest including promotion of investments, regular holding of
Joint Ministerial Commission Meeting and completion of development projects
under Kuwait Fund, a Foreign Ministry statement said.
Both sides recommended that linkages between the Ministry of
Overseas Pakistanis and Ministry of Labour of Kuwait may be established to
facilitate export of Pakistani skilled labour force to Kuwait.
The two sides also emphasized the need for regular high level
exchanges including exchange of parliamentary delegations as well as private
sector visits.
“It is a useful platform to review all aspects of the
bilateral relations, exchange views on regional and international issues of
mutual interest as well as to explore ways and means to remove bottlenecks with
an aim to further strengthen the existing bonds of friendship between Pakistan
and Kuwait,” the statement said.
Ms. Naela Chohan, Additional Foreign Secretary (ME & A),
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad, led Pakistan’s delegation, while the
Kuwaiti side was led by H.E. Ambassador Mohammad Ahmed Al-Mirjin Al-Roumi, Director
Asia Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait.
