Suicide bomber kills provincial minister Israrullah Gandapur in Pakistan

A suicide bomber Wednesday killed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Law, Israrullah Khan Gandapur, and seven other people, officials said.

The bomber exploded his explosives when the slain minister was receiving Eid greetings from the visitors at his home at Kulachi town in Dera Ismail Khan district.

Police said that nearly 30 people were also injured in the attack. The injured were taken to hospitals. Doctors said that some injured were registered critical.

Provincial Information Minister, Shaukat Yousafzai also confirmed the incident.

No group claimed responsibility.

Gandapur’s brother, Ikramullah Gandapur was also injured in the attack.

Gandapur survived in attack in April when his convoy was attacked prior to the May elections.

Gandapur had won election as independent candidate but later joined Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf and became the third PTI provincial lawmakers to be killed in bomb attacks after the May elections.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have strongly condemned the blast.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan also condemned the attack and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families.
